Yay we are more than 1/2 way there now! I'm still managing to stay in my regular clothes w/ the belly band but I can tell that time is running out. Everything is pretty much the same, I have been still experiencing spurts of nausea and heart burn comes and goes. I also think I may have started to feel the baby move around a bit. It kind of felt like a muscle tick and when I looked down at my belly I saw it move a little. It only happens like once or twice every other day or so but I can't wait for him to move around some more :o) It really is the coolest thing! So now on to the development. . .
This week the baby is the size of a banana on one site. . .

. . . or on another its the size of a carrot.

Internally the baby is still getting bigger! His eyelids and eyebrows are fully developed. Not so fun for me my uterus can start to put pressure on the vena cava that returns blood from the legs to the heart. . .this pressure can cause varicose veins but thankfully I haven't noticed anything yet.

And the belly picture. . . clothes are getting tighter but I'm hanging in there :o)

~*~ WIP Baby's Room ~*~

Once we left the doctors appointment knowing that we would be welcoming little Logan in July it was time to put the men to work and start painting. So off to Home Depot we went. . . as I told you in an earlier post the bottom color was Atta Boy Blue from the Disney collection and the top color was Tinker Bell, also from the Disney collection. Here is the room prior to the commencement of painting. . .

So for the top portion Eric (my wonderful husband) had the assistance of my father and here is what they accomplished together. . .

Then came the time when my family had to leave to head back to New York. . . so Eric had to continue alone and here is the fruits of his labor :o)

So here is what still needs to be done. . .

  • Paint the Trim

  • Put up the chair rail

  • Paint the closet

  • Pull up the carpet

  • Put down new carpet

  • Get furniture

  • Put up curtains

I'm sure there is more things that are just escaping my mind but that's a start! A special Thank you to my Dad for helping and my amazing husband for all of his hard work. I love you both!

~*~ ? 20 Weeks. . . Boy or Girl ? ~*~

So this was a week that I couldn't wait for! A very big doctors appointment lay ahead and my whole family came up to share in the news :o) But I will hold you in suspense for a little longer. . . So this week I am at the mid point 20 weeks down and 20 weeks to go. I have now gained a total of 17 pounds. . .lord help me, but I have still managed to stay in my regular clothes with the assistance of my belly band. My blood pressure looked good and everything looked great with the baby. I also got to find out my blood type. . .information which has evaded me for. . .well for my whole life, I believe she said O+. Prior to this appointment I was concerned since I haven't felt the baby moving at all and I felt almost as if I was losing weight, but my concerns were unwarranted and things are great!

So now on to baby information. According to one site the baby is the size of a small cantaloupe (my favorite fruit)

. . .according to another site the baby is about the size of a banana. . .which I was eating all last week and now the thought of eating a banana makes me sick (go figure)

So internal view shows that at this point the top of my uterus is now at my belly button. The baby's skin is now covered with a greasy white substance called vernix caseosa which protects the baby from being submerged in the amniotic fluid. Lastly and most unpleasantly for me is the baby's bowels are building up meconium which is a combination of digestive secretions, swallowed amniotic fluid and sloughed cells, this will all show up in the baby's first diaper.

And here a just a few shots from our 20 week sonogram. . .

Here is the profile view of the baby. . .

Here is the baby's legs. . .the detail is so amazing you can even see the toes!

Here is the baby's face, you can even see the baby's eyes.

The baby's arm. . .

The baby's foot. . .which according to the doctors I will start to feel kicking in the next 2 weeks!

Profile view of the baby with the arm stretched up by the head.

The baby's fist. . .

and. . . .wait for it. . . . wait for it. . . . drum roll please. . .

So my guess was that I was carrying around a little boy. . .my entire family thought differently and believed it was a girl. So as the sonogram tech was looking around. . .I said "Hey isn't that a. . . " and then the tech typed it up on the screen. . . "IT'S A BOY!" Of the experience of having to wait 20 weeks to find out I told the tech it was like "carrying around a Christmas present and just not knowing what it is." And now I know and I am beyond excited. . .Mommy's little boy. . .I love him so much already! Logan Hudson Ponticelli <3
*** Side note, I have not had the chance to take my belly picture yet this week due to my being sick with congestion and exhaustion but I promise once I get the chance I will get that up here as well :o)

*~* Week 19 *~*

Week 19 is here and I'm feeling the same for the most part. Heart burn comes and goes but no movements from the baby :o( It's making me very anxious that I haven't felt anything yet. . .but there is still time, so I'm hanging in there. Only a few more days till we have our doctors appointment and find out if I'm carrying around Bella or Logan! I feel like I've lost a little weight this week, I'm still staying out of maternity clothes my belly bands are working wonderfully but we we see how much longer that will last. Well here is whats going on with baby. . .

Baby is the size of a mango. . .

Or on another site the baby is the size of a heirloom tomato.

This week the baby's arms and legs are now proportionate. The brain development is continuing and creating specialized areas for taste, smell, vision and touch. The baby is starting to develop hair (well according to my mother that explains my heartburn). Lastly for me my uterus is stretching which they say I should start to notice pulling soon.

And the belly picture. . .

*~* Week 18 *~*

So today was an average start to week 18. Feeling pretty much the same as I did last week, no major changes. But I'm still waiting to feel that first flutter from the baby. I also have a count down going on my calendar till February 15. . .I just hope the baby works with us and lets us get a peek at whats well you know know. I have been having a lot of heartburn lately which is rough since I am not a fan of those tums but I'm hanging in there. According to my mother the more heartburn you get the more likely the baby is to come out with a full head of hair. We shall see in just a few months how true that is. This weekend I worked on the baby room and was filling holes in the walls from nails and ect. Getting everything prepared for the painting to come on the 15th! Ok so here is what is going on with the baby this week. . .

The baby is either the size of a sweet potato or. . .

. . . a pepper depending on which site you choose. . .(a pepper. . .lol the name of our dog)

Internally the baby's ears are now in position to stand out from the head, the legs and arms are being flexed which soon I should begin to feel!

And. . . the belly picture! Pretty in pink. . .or huge in pink whichever :o)
